The RG470DXW features a meranti body in Wine Red Frozen Matte finish. It has a maple Wizard III neck with a 24-fret jatoba fingerboard and sharktooth position markers. Components include an Edge Zero II double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut, white Ibanez Quantum pickups with a pair of direct-mounted humbuckers flanking a single-coil, a mono-unit output jack with integrated metal plate, white top-hat knobs, and Ibanez die-cast tuning machine heads.
 
Quantum H-H pickups:
The Quantum pickups have a quick low-end response to picking and are able to capture fast passages with precise note definition, while delivering a full-bodied mid-to-high range.
 
Wizard III Maple neck:
Ibanez's thin, flat and fast Wizard neck is strong and sturdy and offers unlimited playability and features a two-octave 24-fret fretboard for a wide tonal range.
 
Edge-Zero II tremolo bridge:
The Edge Zero II bridge design features a lower profile tremolo for playing comfort and stud lock function for stable tuning.
